Extremes Rainfall Events on Riparian Flora and Vegetation in the Mediterranean Basin: A Challenging but Completely Unexplored Theme

In a global climate change scenario “Extreme climatic events” are expected to widely affect flora and vegetation in Med-regions, especially “Extremes Rainfall Events” which will have impacts on riparian environments. Aiming provide an in-depth picture the effects of these events Mediterranean Basin, focusing islands, bibliographic search was performed main international databases, led 571 articles published from 2000 2021. Most studies analyzed phenomena point view identifying three topics “Rainfall”, “Global/Climate change”, “Flood”. 81 papers concerned extreme woodland formations cultivated plants. A further analysis focused European countries bioregion using rainfall floods” as keywords. low number records relating island regions found, having Sicily study area.
